The statement added, “this issue is being addressed. She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring.” Her family asked that “people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health.”

Taylor has had more than her share of medical problems in addition to congestive heart failure, including back pain, pneumonia, and a benign brain tumor.

Taylor appeared in her first film, There’s One Born Every Minute (1942), at the age of nine. She next appeared in Lassie Come Home (1943) with fellow child star, Roddy McDowall. National Velvet (1944) was the film that skyrocketed her career, at the age of 12. It was during the filming of National Velvet that Taylor fell off her horse, leading to a life time of back problems.

Other acclaimed films included Father of the Bride (1950), Giant (1956), and Cleopatra (1963). She won the Academy Award for Butterfield 8 (1960) and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966).

Liz Taylor is also known as a jewelry designer and created three perfume lines. In recent years, she has devoted much of her time to fund raising for AIDS-related charities.
