Dell Announces 10-Inch Windows 7 and Android Tablets

Dell will release a 10-inch Windows-based tablet for business users later this year, as well as a 10-inch Android-based tablet, the company announced Tuesday at a San Francisco media event.

It uses a convertible design that allows it to be employed either as a standard laptop, or as a touchscreen tablet by swiveling the screen and folding it back on the keyboard. The new tablet is designed for end-users who need greater mobility, as well as IT organizations that require control, security, manageability, and integration with existing infrastructure investments.

Dell released less detail about the Android tablet.

During the event, Dell showcased 24 systems for business users, including tablets, laptops, PCs, and workstations, previewing 39 new systems Dell plans to release this year.

The new releases stressed access, manageability, and security as benefits to users, in keeping with Dell’s “Power To Do More” marketing theme.

In addition to the XT3 convertible tablet, the new systems include the Dell Latitude E5420, E5520, E6220, E6320, E6420, E6520, and E6420 ATG laptops; the Dell OptiPlex 990, 790, and 390 desktops, as well as an OptiPlex Small Form Factor All-in-One Solution; and the Dell Precision T1600 desktop workstation and Dell Precision M6600 and M4600 mobile workstations.
