jamesfranco2 Quite a Year for James FrancoJames Franco is having quite a year. The hunk has been named GQ’s Leading Man of the Year in the December issue due to hit the newsstand on November 23. Others named in the Men of the Year issue are Jeff Bridges as Icon of the Year, Drake as Breakout Star, Scarlett Johansson as Babe of the Year, and Stephen Colbert as Patriot of the Year.

Franco recently starred in “127 Hours,” which premiered earlier this month, a harrowing story adapted from the real-life ordeal of Aron Ralston, a hiker who lost an arm in a rock fall and spent five days fighting for survival until he was finally rescued.

Scheduled to open April 8, 2011, Franco is also starring in am R-rated comedy called “Your Highness” along with Danny McBride, Natalie Portman, and Zooey Deschanel. Franco and McBride are brothers Thadeous and Fabious, two princes who team up together to rescue Fabious’ bride-to-be, Belladonna (Deschanel), after she is kidnapped by an evil wizard, Leezar. They face a mythical beast, and encounter an adventurous princess, Isabel, played by Portman. The film is directed by David Gordon Green.

James has also appeared in several episodes of General Hospital this past year, playing Franco, a rather demented artist who recreated crime scenes of his own making and calling it art.

Yep, James Franco is from the U.S. Was born just up the road from you, in Palo Alto, California, as a matter of fact. He’s known for his role as Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man trilogy.
