Stefanie Powers Opening 2011 Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival

Actress Stefanie Powers will be at the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs on May 12 at 7:30 pm for a book-signing and reception to kick off the opening night of the 2011 Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival. Powers, best known for her starring role in the TV series Hart to Hart, made an early appearance in one of the films that will play during the festival, Experiment in Terror. Her Hart to Hart costar Robert Wagner appears in another film that will be shown during the festival, A Kiss Before Dying.

Powers will join the audience for a screening of An Experiment in Terror, a 1962 thriller about a serial killer terrorizing San Francisco. The film is directed by Pink Panther director Blake Edwards. It stars Lee Remick as a bank teller trying to help an FBI agent played by Glenn Ford catch the killer. Powers plays Remick’s younger sister, who is threatened by the killer.

After the film, Powers will answer questions and answers before signing her book, One from the Hart. Following the book signing, she will attend a private reception for sponsors of the festival and all-access pass holders.

The Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival was founded by the late Palm Springs mystery writer Arthur Lyons in 2000. The festival features both famous and obscure films in the film noir tradition, the crime film genre characterized by such classics as Double Indemnity and The Postman Always Rings Twice. This year’s festival includes the well-known classics Cape Fear and Saboteur, as well as lesser-known gems like The Underworld Story and Mirage.

The festival runs from Thursday, May 12 through Sunday, May 15. Tickets are $13 for individual films ($11 for matinees) or $120 for an all-access pass that includes twelve films.
